We’re wrapping up this year’s Corporate Caring for the Community Campaign and this year, like past years, was a huge success. The campaign runs for one month, with two full work days available to volunteer at a local nonprofit. It is one of the great highlights of the year for us. The 2012 numbers are in and I’m excited to share them with you, but first, let me bring you up to speed in case you’re not familiar with what it’s all about.

Each year HCA employees can choose just about any 501c3 charity they’d like to support and then give either their time or money…or both. If an employee gives at their match level, the HCA Foundation will match up to $500 each for contributions made to the HCA Hope Fund and/or up to $500 for a middle-TN charity, including the United Way.

Here are the results for the 2012 campaign:

  • Nearly 2,000 employees volunteered for Community Day, which took place on 9/13 and 9/18
  • Employees donated nearly 12,000 hours of service to 130 different projects
  • Employee giving including matching funds totaled $4.2 million

We’re so pleased with the results of this year’s campaign. It is a central part of the giving that happens year-round at HCA. Whether it be our Habitat for Humanity build, our Second Harvest Food drive, Salvation Army Angel Tree, or the thousands of hours employees volunteer individually; it is all an important part of our company culture and what makes working at HCA so special.
